Margaret Grundstein
Director
Margaret opened First Years Preschool in 1989 after ten years in family day care, deliberately seeking the intimacy of a small setting combined with the richness of a full program. Her educational background is varied offering depth and breadth, not only in early childhood education but also in psychology and business administration. Margaret studied early childhood education at UCLA Extension and Santa Monica College, has a Masters Degree in City Planning from Yale University and a Bachelor's Degree in History from Goddard College. After founding and running First Years she returned to school once again for a Master in Family Therapy at Loyola Marymount in Westchester. She presently has a small private practice that strengthens her understanding in her role as a preschool director. Margaret leads the Friday morning Toddler Program and runs optional monthly parenting groups that are included as part of the First Years program. She raised two daughters as a single parent and is presently enjoying the benefits of being a grandparent.
