On top of this strong base we look to stimulate their developing minds and skills. Small children learn best through firsthand, meaningful experiences. At First Years we offer opportunities for exploration and discovery in which independence and cooperation are stressed. Learning is integrated through all the senses: visual, aural, kinesthetic and tactile. Art, science, language, movement and social skills are woven together to create a rich curriculum that teaches to multiple forms of intelligence. Both critical thinking and a growing base of skill and knowledge are supported. Children are encouraged to initiate ideas and to trust in their own abilities. Situations that stimulate active learning are encouraged.
Our days are rich. The children grow and blossom. Keeping parents informed is important. First Years offers information about the children and their classroom on a daily basis. We also have a weekly newsletter, twice yearly conferences and are always available to touch base as needed. We want parents to know what is happening at school and are open to all thoughts and questions. As a preschool we teach the importance of good communication. We aspire to model it throughout our program.
